Kurt Bjorling

Chicago-base clarinetist Kurt Bjorling is one of the ABKK’s midwestern faculty. In addition to playing klezmer, he works in a number of other musical traditions.


1. What’s your favorite new project right now?

16th and 17th century consort music, played by mixed ensembles that include clarinet or by a consort of all clarinets, from very large to very small.

2. What kinds of classes will you teach at A Biselle KlezKamp this year?

Music performance workshops and instrumental section workshops. We’ll especially be focusing on dance music, and how to play well for dancers.

3. What do you do when you’re not teaching at KlezKamp?

Build, repair, restore, and modify musical instruments.
