Klezmer music performance workshops

Mayrent teachingAugust 19 & 21, 2013
7:00-9:00 p.m.

The Mayrent Institute is excited to announce that Sherry Mayrent will lead two workshops on Yiddish music performance.

Students will learn to play several klezmer tunes as well as learn about the theoretical and stylistic underpinnings of klezmer performance. These “slow tempo” workshops are aimed primarily at musicians who are relatively new to klezmer music performance, but may also be of interest to students interested in learning more about klezmer music theory.

Students participating in these workshops should bring their own music stands.

Both sessions will be held in room 313 of the Pyle Center on the UW-Madison campus, 702 Langdon Street. Pre-registration (below) is strongly recommended.

These workshops are free and open to the public. Space is limited, so please register early. You may attend the Monday workshop, the Wednesday workshop, or both.
